The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team opens its 2016-17 season at the 2016 (Dec.) World Sled Hockey Challenge. The U.S., which enters the tournament as the two-time defending champion, is competing against Korea, Norway and host Canada.

Members of Team USA flew in Halifax throughout day yesterday (Dec.1), and arrived in Charlottetown, P.E.I. just after 11:30 p.m. AT after bussing together from Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

RETURNING TO CHARLOTTETOWN
Team USA returns to Charlottetown for the first time since winning its first-ever WSHC title in 2009 with a 3-2 overtime decision over Canada. The city also played host to the 2008 World Sled Hockey Challenge 

HITTING THE ICE
Team USA hit the ice for its first practice ahead of Sunday's game against Korea. It was a 90-minute session that began at 2:30 p.m. AT. All practices and games from the 2016 (Dec.) World Sled Hockey Challenge will be held at MacLauchlan Arena (capacity: 1,350) on the campus of the University of Prince Edward Island.

RINK RATS
After eating dinner at the hotel, the players returned to the rink just two hours after the conclusion of practice to attend the men's hockey game between the University of Prince Edward Island and Acadia University. The host Panthers fell in a shootout, 4-3.
