The U.S. topped Canada, 2-1, in a preliminary round matchup here at the 2017 Para Sled Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea. Veteran goaltender Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.) shared his thoughts following the win.

ON THE HATS
"There's not much of a back story to it. Not a big surprise here, but the 'kids' are behind it. Declan sent out a text saying bring a funny hat, and that's about it. Brody's taken it to another level by getting a chef's hat from the hotel. For me, it was more of a 'why not' than a 'why'. It's just something fun to do and be apart of with the team."

ON HIS PERFORMANCE
"As a goaltender, it's about just staying focused and not having too many peaks or valleys. Just having confidence that the guys are gonna keep the shots to the outside. Obviously, you have to do your part. No matter if it’s goalie, defender or forward, you have to do your job out there and as long as you do that good things will happen."

ON TEAM COHESIVENESS
"I think obviously we have a lot of chemistry out there. All of us get along so on and off the ice, so there’s that.

ON LEVEL OF PLAY MOVING FORWARD
"As long as we’re buying into what the coaches are telling us to do during practice and during games and execute that’s going to be our biggest strength. Today, we picked it up in the second period and I would say moving forward as long as we played like we did in the second and third periods, then we’ll be good.”
