Men's Team Rolls 12-1

The men's squad posted 62 shots and spread the scoring in a 12-1 victory over Spain on Monday.

Bryce Johnson (Des Moines, Iowa/University of Oklahoma) opened the scoring 6:45 into the first period to give Team USA a 1-0 lead.

The lead widened in the second period with a goal from Sean Murphy (Cary, N.C./Arizona State University), Johnson's second goal of the game and markers from Chris Joseph (Levittown, N.Y./Stony Brook University) and Bobby Bodette (Garden, Mich./Adrian College).

Spain scored midway through the third before Sam Brewster (Plano, Texas/Stony Brook University) answered to give Team USA a 9-1 advantage. Goals by J.P. Kascsak (Springfield, Va./Iowa State University), Michael Harris (Silver Spring, Md./Ohio University) and Joey Breslin (Centerville, Ohio/Ohio University) wrapped the scoring.

Women's Team Strong in Shortened Game

In an exhibition game cut short due to poor ice conditions, the women's team looked strong through two periods, leading Spain 6-0.

Rachael Booth (Washington, Mich./Miami University) opened the scoring early in the first period, and Team USA held the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The U.S. increased the pressure on Spain in the second, scoring five goals. Booth scored her second of the game just two minutes into the frame then Monica Korzon (Ann Arbor, Mich./University of Michigan) and Hayley Williams (Crete, Ill./Miami University) struck in the next three minutes to extend the lead.

With five minutes to go in the period, Williams scored again, and Kaley Mooney (Pittsburgh, Pa./Miami University) wrapped the scoring in the last minute.

After the intermission, the game was called due to poor ice conditions.
