Blue and White Rosters Set For USA Hockey Natl Jr Eval Camp

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today the blue and white team designations for its National Junior Evaluation Camp that will be taking place in Lake Placid, New York, Aug. 1-8. The 39 athletes participating in the camp have been separated into two groups for the first three days of practices and games versus Finland and Sweden.

On Aug. 4, Team USA will trim its roster and a single U.S. squad will finish the camp with practices and games against Finland and Sweden.

Team Blue will be coached by Chris Chelios (Chicago, Ill./Detroit Red Wings) and Doug Weight (Warren, Mich./New York Islanders). Team White will be coached by Danton Cole (Pontiac, Mich./USA Hockey's National Team Development Program) and Kelly Miller (Lansing, Mich./Michigan State University).

USA Hockey, in partnership with FASTHockey, is once again providing live streaming coverage of the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp. Current subscribers of FASTHockey can watch the games with their active subscription. Users whose subscriptions have expired can simply log in to their existing FASTHockey account and activate a new subscription. New users to FASThockey should go to USAHockey.FASTHockey.com and register for an account. Once confirmed, the user can select from several subscription packages to watch live or on-demand from virtually any device.

Nick Siergiej Named Video Coordinator for 2016 U.S. National Junior Team

USA Hockey announced that Nick Siergiej (South Bend, Ind.), coordinator of hockey operations at the University of Notre Dame, will serve as video coordinator for the 2016 U.S. National Junior Team. Siergiej, who will serve on a U.S. national team for the first time, is entering his eighth season with Notre Dame where he oversees all aspects of Notre Dame hockey's video operations assists with the daily operations of the hockey program.

NOTES: Of the 39 players attending the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp, 10 are returnees from the 2015 U.S. National Junior Team, while 24 have won medals at International Ice Hockey Federation events ... Fifteen players competed in the United States Hockey League during the 2014-15 season, including 11 from USA Hockey's National Team Development Program ... Fourteen players competed in the college hockey ranks last season ... Fifteen of the 39 players participated in last year's camp ... The 2016 U.S. National Junior Team will be selected following a pre-tournament camp in December to be held in Boston ... Ron Wilson (Riverside, R.I.), who directed the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team to a silver medal at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, and ranks eighth all-time in National Hockey League history in wins, is the head coach of the 2016 U.S. National Junior Team. The assistant coaches are Chris Chelios (Chicago, Ill.), advisor to hockey operations for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings, Danton Cole (Pontiac, Mich.), head coach at USA Hockey's NTDP, and Kevin Reiter (Pittsburgh, Pa.), goalie coach at USA Hockey's NTDP ... Jim Johannson (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey's assistant executive director of hockey operations, is serving as the general manager of Team USA for the seventh consecutive year ... Kelly Miller (Lansing, Mich.) and Doug Weight (Warren, Mich.) will serve as guest assistant coaches at the USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp ... USA Hockey's international council, chaired by Gavin Regan (Potsdam, N.Y.), vice president of USA Hockey, has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national teams ... The U.S. will compete in a group with Canada, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship. For more information about the tournament, click here.
