Today is the second meeting between the U.S. and Canada at the 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship. In the previous matchup, the U.S. defeated Canada, 3-1, in the first game of the preliminary round. Today’s gold medal game will take place at 10:30 p.m. ET (7:30 p.m. local) at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia, and will be televised live in the United States on NHL Network. The U.S. Women’s National Team hasn’t allowed a goal in eight periods at the 2016 IIHF Women’s World Championship. It's most recent win came last night against Russia, a 9-0 shutout in the semifinal round where six different U.S. players score. At the tournament, Team USA has outscored its opponents, 22-2. Overall, the U.S. is 67-2-6-8-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) in 84 career games and has outscored their opponents 564-130.

Hilary Knight leads the tournament with seven goals and has moved into second all-time in goal scoring among Team USA players at this event. She currently has 30 goals in 38 games, trailing only Cammi Granato who scored 44 goals in 43 career games at the Women's World Championship.
