Girls 15 PDC - Day 2 Recap

Action on July 22 opened with a 2-1 OT victory by Team Gray over Team Orange.  Alex Hantge provided Orange with a 1-0 lead in the first period, which held until Gray’s Christina Halloran tied the game with :59 left in regulation. Gray’s Courtney Peterson decided the game with a goal just :45 into overtime.

After a scoreless first period, Light Blue’s Danielle Hartje and Mackenzie Emery scored second period markers to provide their squad with a 2-0 victory over Team Green.  Light Blue goalies Grace London and Cara Jandzio combined for 11 saves and the shutout.

Team Vegas rallied with three second period goals to tally a 4-2 win over Team Pink.  Gabbie Cox posted two goals for Team Vegas, while Carmen Merlo had one goal and two assists for Vegas.  Kaitlyn Kaufman charted a goal and an assist for Team Pink.

In another overtime contest, Team Royal’s Catherine Appleyard scored the game-winning goal at 1:24 of the extra frame to give her squad a 5-4 win over Team Black.  Royal’s other goals were scored by Claire Hickey, Jenna Ruiz, Julia Masotta and Courtney Hall, while Team Black’s offense consisted of goals by Priscilla Ziefle, Hannah Bilka, Courtney Hyland and Kaitlyn Ehmann.

Team Red remained undefeated in camp play with a 4-3 victory over Team White.  Casey O’Brien scored two goals in the final two minutes of regulation to lift Team Red to the victory.  Taylor Adams also had one goal and an assist in the winning effort for Team Red, while Team White goals were scored by Allyson Watrous, Lillian Feeney and Molly Griffin.

The games on July 22 wrapped up with a 5-1 victory for Team Teal over Team Gold.  Teal’s Cheyenne Abear tallied two goals in the opening period to give her squad a 2-0 lead. Teammate Jenna Stevens added a power-play marker in the second to make it 3-0. Abear collected the hat trick with her third goal of the game in the second to make it 4-0.  Gold’s Samantha Molind scored her team’s lone goal in the second period before Teal’s Meredith Killian brought the final to 5-1 with a goal in the closing minutes of the middle period. Teal’s Katherine O’Donohue added three assists in the game.
