Girls 15 PDC - Day 4 Recap

The 2016 USA Hockey Girls 15 Player Development Camp concluded on July 24 at St. Cloud State University’s Herb Brooks National Hockey Center with division playoff games.

In the Liberty Division, Team Red advanced in first round play with a 1-0 win over Team Gold, while Team White defeated Team Teal 1-0.  In the title game for the Liberty Division, Team White’s Lauren Jackson and Hadley Hartmetz each scored goals to lead their club to a 2-0 win over Team Red.  In the consolation game, Team Teal skated to a 2-0 win over Team Gold on the strength of goals by Kaitlyn O’Donohoe and Maeve Connolly.

In the American Division semifinals, Team Orange earned a 1-0 first round win over Team Green and Team Light Blue skated to a 2-0 win over Team Gray.  The American Division title was decided in a shootout with Team Light Blue’s Mackenzie Emery scoring the game-winning goal in the shootout to defeat Team Orange.  In the American Division consolation game, Team Green scored a 2-1 shootout victory over Team Gray.  In regulation time, Gray gained a 1-0 lead with a goal by Kate Monihan.  Green’s Grace Johnson tied the game late in the first before teammate Katelyn Knoll notched the game winner in the shootout session.

In the National Division, Team Black charted a 1-0 win over Team Vegas in first round play.  In the other first round game, Team Pink earned a 2-1 win over Team Royal.  The National Division title was decided by a 2-1 shootout win by Team Black over Team Pink.  Black’s Julia Blitz scored the game-winner in the shootout session, and she also scored her team’s first goal of the game.  Team Pink’s goal was posted by Lauren MacLean.  In the consolation game, Team Vegas collected a 4-2 win over Team Royal.  Jenna Ruiz opened the scoring for Team Royal before Vegas rolled out four unanswered goals to seal the victory.  Vegas goals were scored by Melissa Stauss, Carly Beniek, Caroline Goffredo and Gabbie Cox.
