U.S. Women's Roster Announced for Women's Worlds

IIHF World Championship Staged March 31-April 7 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan

USA Hockey announced today the roster for the U.S. Women's National Team that will compete in the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship, March 31 to April 7 at USA Hockey Arena in the Detroit suburb of Plymouth, Michigan.

Seventeen of the 23 players on the roster were on the team that helped the U.S. earn the gold medal at the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship. The roster also features 13 members of the silver medal-winning 2014 U.S. Women's Olympic Ice Hockey Team, including Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.), Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove, Ill.), Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.), Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis.), Meghan Duggan (Danvers, Mass.), Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.), Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho), Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson (Grand Forks, N.D.), Monique Lamoureux-Morando (Grand Forks, N.D.), Gigi Marvin (Warroad, Minn.), Kelli Stack (Brooklyn Heights, Ohio) and Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.).

The 23 players represent 12 different states. Minnesota leads the way with five representatives followed by Massachusetts with four and Wisconsin with three, while Illinois and North Dakota have two. Colorado, Idaho, Maryland, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Vermont all have one representative.

USA Hockey’s international council, chaired by Gavin Regan (Potsdam, N.Y.), vice president of USA Hockey, has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national teams ...
