AMHERST, N.Y. – USA Hockey’s Boys Select 15 Player Development Camp returned to game action today with all 12 teams slated for competition.

Team White 5, Team Columbia 2

Team White picked up its second win of the week with an offensive outburst in the first period, scoring four goals on Team Columbia in the first 10:05 of the game. Tallies from Ryan Miknich (Anchorage, Alaska), Christian Jimenez (Yorktown Heights N.Y.), Nicholas Desantis (Collegeville, Pa.) and Michael Cameron (Berwyn, Pa.) pulled all the momentum toward Team White going into the halftime break.

Desantis, who amassed four points on Sunday, added an assist to his Tuesday goal to give him six points (2G, 4A) for the week, a camp-high.

Team Columbia bounced back in the second half and begin showing some offensive firepower of its own. Goals from Blake Mesenburg (Orono, Minn.) and Bret Link (Anchorage, Alaska) cut the lead to two with 17 minutes to play, but Team White goaltender Jackson Dylla (Overland Park, Kan.) shut the door the rest of the way while Bob Lockwood (St. Louis, Mo.) added an insurance marker to make the final score of 5-2. Passing and puck movement was clearly a strength of Team White today, as shown by all five goals having secondary assists.

Team Navy Blue 7, Team Kelly Green 2

After scoring only one goal in their loss on Sunday, Team Navy Blue found its offensive rhythm in a 7-2 victory over Team Kelly Green. A pair of goals from Matthew MacDonald (Weymouth, Mass.) toward the end of the second half made him the only player to score multiple goals. Richard Hart (Stamford, Conn.) and Jacob Truscott (Fort Gratoit, Mich.) also added a goal and an assist each in the five-goal victory.

Team Black 4, Team Teal 1

Following a goal from Team Teal’s Dane Dowiak (Wexford, Pa.) to open the game a mere three minutes in, Team Black rebounded to score four unanswered goals and skate to a 4-1 victory. Tanner Kelly (Clarkston, Mich.) of Team Black scored two goals on the day, his first tallies of the week.

Connor Bradford (Kingston, Mass.) and Liam O’Gwen (Basking Ridge, N.J.) stopped 13 of 14 and 12 of 12 shots, respectively, in the winning effort. Bradford now has a .935 save percentage on the week.

Team Gold 5, Team Red 2

Justin Nakagawa (San Diego, Calif.) of Team Red opened the scoring, giving his side the lead within the first minute and a half, but Team Gold responded with three unanswered goals to grab a 3-1 lead. Team Red then fought back to within one following a tally from Carson Whitman (Holden, Mass.). Shortly after the Whitman goal, Gold’s Anthony Cippollone (Purchase, N.Y.) connected on a one-timer pass from Cross Hanas (Highland Village, Texas) on a 2-on-1 opportunity that sealed the fate of Team Red. Tanner Dickinson (Perrysburg, Ohio) added an empty-net insurance goal to close out the game.

Team Orange 4, Team Royal Blue 3

The day’s penultimate game was the most closely contested of the day. Team Royal Blue jumped out to an early lead, scoring two goals in the first two minutes, but then Team Orange answered ten minutes later with two goals of their own, coming 14 seconds apart.

Battling back and forth, Team Orange and Team Royal Blue each had opportunities to win and both squads could argue that a bounce here or there would have changed the final outcome. But it was one bounce in particular that ultimately defeated Royal Blue.

Following a dump-in from Team Orange, Gavin Fitzpatrick (Norwood, Mass.) left his crease in an attempt to play the puck. An unusual bounce propelled the puck over Fitzpatrick’s stick and right to Nathaniel Hanley (Rocky Point, N.Y.) of Team Orange who was able to bury the game-winning goal with seven seconds remaining.

Team Forest Green 5, Team Grey 2

The final contest of the evening was highlighted by a four-goal first period for Team Forest Green. Collin Graf (Lincoln, Mass.), Dylan Peterson (Cedar Park, Texas), Jake Larusso (Colts Neck, N.J.) and Hunter Strand (Anchorage, Alaska.) contributed tallies in the first period to put the game out of reach early. Team Grey scored twice late in the first, but Forest Green held firm in the second half and put the game away with a late empty-net goal.
