FOUR NATIONS CUP: The Four Nations Cup is an annual tournament that has been held in varying forms since 1996. The U.S. will compete against Canada, Finland and Sweden in this year’s tournament. This year marks the 22nd year of the tournament (previously the Three Nations Cup). Games Nov. 7-10 will be held at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Florida, while the Third-Place and Championship Games will be held Nov. 12 at AMALIE Arena in Tampa, Florida.

GOING FOR THREE: The U.S. has competed in the Four Nations Cup tournament 20 times, having not participated in 2001. The U.S. has captured the title seven times (1997, 2003, 2008, 2011-12, 2015-16) and hopes to win its third-straight title this year on home soil in Florida. The Americans hold an overall record of 47-7-2-25-2 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) in 83 Three/Four Nations Cup games.

LOOKING BACK: Prior to the 2017 Four Nations Cup, the last meeting between the U.S. and Finland at this event took place on Nov. 2, 2016, in Kerava, Finland. In that game, the U.S. defeated Finland, 4-0, in the only meeting between the teams at that tournament. More recently, the U.S. defeated Finland, 5-3, on April 3, 2017, in the preliminary round of the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation Women’s World Championship before it went on to win its fourth consecutive world title.

USA vs. FINLAND: In the Four Nations Cup, Team USA has fallen to Finland only once, holding a 15-0-0-1-0 record (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) overall. The U.S. has shut out Finland in six of the last eight games over the last eight years by a collective score of 52-2.

NOW PLAYING: Cayla Barnes (Eastvale, Calif.), three-time member of the U.S. Under-18 Women’s National Team and the only player to have won three consecutive gold medals at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship (2014, 2015 and 2016), will be making her season debut on the 2017-18 U.S. Women’s National Team after having been called up Saturday, Oct. 28. In joining the U.S. Women’s National Team, Barnes has taken time away from Boston College, where she played in five games as a freshman during the 2017-18 season before reporting to Wesley Chapel.
