Team USA Women to Host NWHL Stars in Exhibition Games

Games will be held Jan. 13 and 15 in Wesley Chapel, Florida

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today that the U.S. Women’s National Team will play two exhibition games against the top players from the National Women’s Hockey League. The games will serve as a final tune-up for the U.S. before the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.

The games will be held Jan. 13 and 15 at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Tickets will be available for $10 each with 50 percent of the proceeds benefitting The USA Hockey Foundation’s Friends of Women’s Hockey Fund. Further details about broadcast information and how fans can purchase tickets will be forthcoming.

NOTES: Eleven players currently training with the U.S. Women’s National Team competed in the NWHL during the 2016-17 season, including Megan Bozek (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) and Emily Pfalzer (Buffalo, N.Y.), who helped the Buffalo Beauts win the 2017 Isobel Cup. Kacey Bellamy(Westfield, Mass.), Alex Carpenter (North Reading, Mass.), Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis.), Meghan Duggan (Danvers, Mass.), Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho), Gigi Marvin (Warroad, Minn.) and Amanda Pelkey (Montpelier, Vt.) played for Boston; Amanda Kessel (Madison, Wis.) with New York; and Haley Skarupa (Rockville, Md.) with the Connecticut Whale… Reagan Carey (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Hockey's director of women's hockey, is the general manager of the 2017-18 U.S. Women's National Team and 2018 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team... Robb Stauber (Medina, Minn.) is the head coach of the 2017-18 U.S. Women's National Team and 2018 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team … The U.S. Women’s National Ice Hockey Team trains together at Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, Florida, in preparation for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games ... The final 2018 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team is expected to be announced on Jan. 1, 2018… USA Hockey's International Council, chaired by Gavin Regan(Potsdam, N.Y.), vice president of USA Hockey, has oversight responsibilities for all U.S. national teams.
