The U.S. National Junior Team reached the bronze-medal game, where it fell to Canada in a 4-3 shootout at the 2000 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Skelleftea and Umea, Sweden.
Forward Adam Hall captained Team USA and goaltender Rick DiPietro was named to the all-tournament team and selected as best goaltender of the tournament, as chosen by the directorate. DiPietro went on to be selected first overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first U.S. goaltender and product of USA Hockey's National Team Development Program to be selected first overall.
