2017 WJC | Jon Gomez, Manager, Communications

Jon Gomez, manager of communications for USA Hockey, is serving on the staff of a U.S. National Sled Hockey Team for the third season. As a member of the sled hockey team staff, Gomez has been a part of four championships, including the 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge in Leduc, Alberta; the 2015 IPC Sled Hockey World Championship in Buffalo, New York; the 2016 (Jan.) World Sled Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; the 2016 IPC Pan-Pacific Championship in Buffalo, New York.

In addition, Gomez has served on two U.S. National Junior Teams, including the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team that claimed the gold medal at the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto, Canada. He was also on the Team USA staff that earned a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland. 

Gomez joined USA Hockey's national office as the manager of communications in December 2014. In addition to his responsibilities with the U.S. National Junior Team and U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, he oversees communication efforts and content initiatives for the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and Hockey Weekend Across America initiative.

Previously, Gomez served as the media services manager for USA Team Handball where he was the primary media contact for the organization’s residency program and national teams, and also with Hill+Knowlton Strategies as an analyst in the global chairman’s office. He also completed an internship with U.S. Paralympics where he contributed to communication efforts during the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

A 2012 graduate of Texas A&M University, Gomez earned his bachelor’s degree in English and threw javelin as a member of Texas A&M’s track and field program.
