Paralympic Winter Games | PyeongChang 2018

PyeongChang, South Korea | March 9-18

The 2018 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team captured an unprecedented third-straight Paralympic gold medal by defeating Canada, 2-1, in overtime. En route to its gold-medal finish, the U.S. topped Japan (10-0), Czech Republic (10-0) and host Korea (8-0) in group play before defeating Italy (10-1) in the semifinals.

Guy Gosselin (Grafton, Wis.), who led Team USA to a silver medal at the 2017 Para Sled Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea, served as head coach of the 2018 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team. Joining Gosselin behind the bench was assistant coach David Hoff (Bottineau, N.D.).

Forward Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) was named Best Forward and Tournament MVP ahead of the gold-medal game and finished the tournament with 17 points, tying teammate and alternate captain Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) for the tournament-lead. Farmer, who scored both goals in the gold-medal game, tied the U.S. and Paralympic records for most goals in a single tournament at 11, which was set by Sylvester Flis in 2002.

The United States, which entered the tournament as the two-defending champions after claiming the gold medal at the Paralympic Winter Games Sochi 2014 and Paralympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010, has now medaled in five of its six Paralympic appearances (gold - 2002, 2010, 2014, 2018; bronze - 2006).

USA Hockey announced the 17-player roster for the 2018 U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team on Jan. 1, 2018, which included 10 players who won the gold medal at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. The roster was led by captain Josh Pauls (Green Brook, N.J.), alternate captains Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) and Nikko Landeros (Johnstown, Colo.) and goaltender Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.). All four were members of the gold medal-winning 2014 Paralympic Sled Hockey Team.
