2018 WJC | Jon Gomez, Manager, Communications

Jon Gomez, manager of communications for USA Hockey, is serving on the staff of a U.S. National Junior Team for the third consecutive year. A year ago, he was part of the Team USA staff that claimed the gold medal at the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto, Canada. He was also on the Team USA staff that earned a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland. 

In addition, Gomez has served on a U.S. National Sled Hockey Team staff for three consecutive seasons. Last April, Gomez was on the Team USA staff that earned a silver medal at the 2017 Para Sled Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea. Overall, Gomez has been a part of four championships with the sled team, including the 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge in Leduc, Alberta; the 2015 IPC Sled Hockey World Championship in Buffalo, New York; the 2016 (Jan.) World Sled Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; the 2016 IPC Pan-Pacific Championship in Buffalo, New York.

Gomez joined USA Hockey's national office as the manager of communications in December 2014. In addition to his responsibilities with the U.S. National Junior Team and U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, he oversees communication and content efforts for the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and Hockey Weekend Across America initiative while also leading content initiatives surrounding USA Hockey's national teams at International Ice Hockey Federation and Olympic/Paralympic-related events.

Previously, Gomez served as the media services manager for USA Team Handball where he was the primary media contact for the organization’s residency program and national teams, and also with Hill+Knowlton Strategies as an analyst in the global chairman’s office. He also completed an internship with U.S. Paralympics where he contributed to communication efforts during the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

A 2012 graduate of Texas A&M University, Gomez earned his bachelor’s degree in English and threw javelin as a member of Texas A&M’s national championship-winning track and field program.
