2018 PWG | Jon Gomez, Media Officer

Jon Gomez, manager of communications for USA Hockey, is serving on the staff of a U.S. Paralympic Sled Hockey Team for the first time. This is the fourth consecutive season in which Gomez is serving on a U.S. National Sled Hockey Team (2014-18).

Since first serving on a U.S. National Sled Hockey Team staff in the 2014-15 season, Gomez has been a part of six major international championship wins, including the 2015 World Sled Hockey Challenge in Leduc, Alberta; the 2015 IPC Sled Hockey World Championship in Buffalo, New York; the 2016 (Jan.) World Sled Hockey Challenge in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia; the 2016 IPC Pan-Pacific Championship in Buffalo, New York; the 2017 World Sled Hockey Challenge in Charlottetown, P.E.I. and the 2018 Turin Para Ice Hockey International Tournament in Turin, Italy. He was also part of Team USA's silver-medal effort at the 2017 Para Sled Hockey World Championship in Gangneung, South Korea. 

In addition, Gomez has served on a U.S. National Junior Team staff for three consecutive years, including Team USA's gold-medal winning squad at the 2017 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto, Canada. Last January, Gomez was part of the Team USA staff that earned a bronze medal on home ice at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, New York after also helping the U.S. earn a bronze medal at the 2016 tournament in Helsinki, Finland.

Gomez joined USA Hockey's national office as the manager of communications in December 2014. In addition to his responsibilities with the U.S. National Junior Team and U.S. National Sled Hockey Team, he oversees communication and content efforts for the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game and Hockey Weekend Across America initiative while also leading content initiatives surrounding USA Hockey's national teams at International Ice Hockey Federation and Olympic/Paralympic-related events.

Previously, Gomez served as the media services manager for USA Team Handball where he was the primary media contact for the organization’s residency program and national teams, and also with Hill+Knowlton Strategies as an analyst in the global chairman’s office. He also completed an internship with U.S. Paralympics where he contributed to communication efforts during the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

A 2012 graduate of Texas A&M University, Gomez earned his bachelor’s degree in English and threw javelin as a member of Texas A&M’s national championship-winning track and field program. 

Jon Gomez, senior manager of communications for the NHL's LA Kings, is leading communications for the 2021 U.S. Men's National Team.

Gomez, in his second season with the Kings, is no stranger to international competition.

He previously worked in communications for USA Hockey and served as media officer for numerous U.S. national teams, including the U.S. National Junior Team (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019), U.S. National Sled Hockey Team (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 Paralympics, 2019) and 2018 U.S. Men's National Team, all of which won medals in international competition.
