Ben Gordon (International Falls, Minn.) is serving as an assistant coach of the U.S. Under-18 Men’s Select Team for the first time at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alberta.
2023-24 marks his seventh season as an assistant coach for the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team. Under Gordon’s guidance, the Golden Gophers have made the NCAA tournament four consecutive years, including an NCAA national championship game appearance in 2022-23. Gordon was also previously Minnesota’s director of hockey operations for one season in 2016-17.
Prior to joining the Minnesota staff for a second time in 2018, Gordon served as the associate head coach for the USHL’s Chicago Steel for one season in 2017-18. He also helped the Tri-City Storm to a USHL Clark Cup title in 2015-16 as an assistant coach. Gordon broke into coaching as an assistant coach and later interim head coach for The College of St. Scholastica men’s hockey team in 2014-15.
Gordon played collegiately at Minnesota from 2004-08 after a two-year stint with the Lincoln Stars in the USHL, where he won the 2003 Clark Cup. Following his college career, Gordon played professionally for six seasons with several teams in the AHL, ECHL, and in Germany
