Hayes will be making his IIHF coaching debut for the 2025 U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team at the 2025 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship.
Hayes is in his second as an assistant coach with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program. Last season, he helped lead the U.S. National Under-17 Team to a first place finish at the 2024 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament and a second place finish at the 2023 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Hayes joined USA Hockey after spending the last 13 years playing professionally, including five seasons (2010-15) across the ECHL and eight campaigns (2015-23) in Europe, mostly in Switerland’s top league before finishing his career last year in Austria.
The Syracuse, New York, native competed in two IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championships, helping Team USA to gold (2006) and silver (2007) medals.
