A finalist for Olympic/Paralympic Team of the Month, the 2016 U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Team battled back from a two-goal deficit to earn a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against Canada to win gold at the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship. Team USA racked up three preliminary-round wins against Czech Republic (6-0), Russia (6-0) and Canada (4-1) to finish atop Group A and earn a quarterfinal bye. In the semifinal, the U.S. defeated the Sweden 4-0 to earn the match up with rival Canada in the gold-medal game. The United States finished the tournament 4-1-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) and outscored opponents 23-3 overall.
