INTRASQUAD SCRIMMAGE
Today, the staff will split the 26 players into two squads for an intrasquad scrimmage. Practice began at 10:30 a.m. as opposed to the regular 10:00 a.m. start time and included a condensed game -- three 12 minute periods -- that was followed by shootout attempts. After an ice cut, the players returned to the ice and worked on special teams.

WELCOME DR. JOHNSON
Last night, long-time Team USA physician Dr. Phil Johnson (Horace, N.D.) joined the team here in Buffalo, New York. This is the 12th consecutive year Johnson will be with the U.S. National Junior Team. To date, he has played a role in five medal-winning U.S. National Junior Teams, including last year when the U.S. claimed the bronze medal at the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland. He also was a part of two U.S. gold medal-winning squads (2013, 2010) as well as two other bronze medal-winning teams (2011, 2007).

Today U.S. National Junior Team captain Luke Kunin (Chesterfield, Mo./University of Wisconsin) joined NHL Network's "NHL Now" to discuss being named captain, the team's style of play and the expectations for Team USA as the tournament is just seven days away.
