10TH STRAIGHT WJC-OPENING WIN
With its 6-1 victory over Latvia tonight, Team USA has now won its tournament-opening game in World Junior Championship play for the 10th consecutive year.

“We got better as the game went on,” said Bob Motzko (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud State University), head coach of the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team. “You could tell there were some nerves in the first period, but after the guys settled in we found our style of play and got the job done. We’ll learn from this as we get ready for the next one.”

SCORING BY COMMITTEE
Tonight's victory over Latvia saw 11 different U.S. players get on the scoresheet. Including the two pre-tournament games, the U.S. has seen at least seven different players register points in all three games to date. Overall, 16 different players have registered a point to date with Tage Thompson (Orange, Conn./University of Connecticut) pacing all players with five points (3-2).

GREENWAY TABBED U.S. PLAYER OF GAME
