TOURNAMENT OFF DAY
All eight teams competing in the 2018 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship had the day off after playing on back-to-back days. Team USA skated from 3:45-4:45 p.m. before having the evening off to have dinner and spend time with friends and family that traveled to Russia. The U.S. closes preliminary-round play tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. ET vs. Canada.  

BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Eight players collected points as Team USA defeated Russia, 5-3, yesterday for its second win in as many days to open the competition. The U.S. effort was fueled by four power-play goals in the opening period. For a complete game recap, highlights & postgame comments from the contest, click here.

TAKE FIVE: Hannah Bilka
Forward Hannah Bilka (Coppell, Texas) recorded a goal and an assist in yesterday’s win over Russia. The goal was her first in a Team USA sweater in IIHF world-championship play.

JOURNEY TO RUSSIA
Last week, players and staff from Team USA made the journey from Wesley Chapel, Florida, to Dmitrov, Russia ahead of the tournament. The travel started at 9 a.m. ET on the morning of Jan. 2 and the group arrived in Dmitrov at 4:30 p.m. local time on Jan. 3 before holding its first on-ice session at 6:30 p.m. For an inside look at Team USA’s travels, check out the video below.
