Day Four - Feb. 6

Today, the U.S. women enjoyed their first off-day since arriving to the Olympic Village. It was a day to sleep in and get some necessary rest before heading back to the rink tomorrow.

TODAY SHOW
This morning, some members of the team headed down to the beach in the coastal cluster, where they filmed a couple of segments for NBC’s TODAY with Keir Simmons. Keir spoke with team captain Meghan Duggan about how the team has enjoyed Korea thus far, and its expectations for the upcoming tournament. The Olympic rings stood in the sand on the beach, and the players took lots of photos and selfies to remember their visit.

TAKE FIVE: AMANDA PELKEY
Forward Amanda Pelkey (Montpelier, Vt.) is one of 13 players making their Olympic debut in PyeongChang this month. Pelkey helped Team USA earn a pair of gold medals at the 2016 and 2017 IIHF Women’s World Championship, in addition to titles at the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Four Nations Cups.

HER EARLIEST HOCKEY MEMORY: “My Dad built an outdoor rink in our front yard that I would spend hours on daily when I was younger. This is where my passion for the game grew. It became something that I craved and couldn’t get enough of. I love the flow of the game. It became something that my eyes were glued to anytime I was watching it.”

HIDDEN TALENT: Singing

IF SHE WASN’T PLAYING HOCKEY, SHE WOULD…: “As a career I would love to work in an exercise physiology lab testing athletes. I would also like to work for a charitable organization.”

BIGGEST FEAR: “I absolutely hate heights. My legs give out underneath me if I get high enough then I feel like I can’t move.”
