After its first game of the tournament, the U.S. women’s team is 1-0. The Americans defeated Finland, 3-1, to open preliminary round play here tonight at the Kwandong Hockey Centre. Monique Lamoureux-Morando (Grand Forks, N.D.), Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.) and Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth, Minn.) each scored goals in the victory.

Twelve members of the U.S. team made their Olympic debut today as members of the 2018 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team. They include the following:

Goaltenders - Alex Rigsby and Maddie Rooney
Defenders - Cayla Barnes, Megan Keller, Kali Flanagan, Emily Pfalzer and Sidney Morin
Forwards - Haley Skarupa, Kelly Pannek, Hannah Brandt, Dani Cameranesi and Amanda Pelkey

Pannek commented on the feeling of stepping out onto the Olympic sheet for the first time tonight:

“It was super exciting. Looking around trying to find your parents, seeing all the families and friends that were here, and all the USA fans, it was just super fun and it’s a moment I will never forget.”
