It was an off-day for the U.S. women’s team the day after it defeated Finland, 3-1, in its opening game of the Olympic tournament. Several players took advantage of the time away from the rink and headed out to cheer on their USA teammates in ski and snowboard, and figure skating events.

GO TEAM USA
A number of players spent the morning at the figure skating venue, where Team USA completed its final day of the figure skating team event with the men’s singles free skate, women’s singles free skate and the ice dance free dance. The U.S. team ultimately earned a bronze medal and Alex Rigsby was there to see it all.

“I loved having the opportunity to go with teammates to watch the team figure skating event today," said the U.S. goalie. "It was amazing to watch Team USA crush it to get back on the podium earning bronze. It was also extremely inspiring to watch Mirai make history by landing her triple axel!”

Some other players made their way up to the mountains to take in some of the slopestyle event, but the event was canceled due to high winds. Lots of exploring ensued, including checking out a local coffee shop.

IDEAL OFF-DAY
Back home when there isn’t Olympic action to check out, U.S. athletes have go-to activities for an off-day. Select players from the U.S. women’s team shared their thoughts on what their perfect off-day consists of…

Gigi Marvin (Warroad, Minn.): Being outside playing games (catch, Spikeball, anything really), hanging with family or friends.

Lee Stecklein (Roseville, Minn.): A perfect off day would involve a really delicious breakfast (my favorite meal of the day) with my sister, reading, hanging out with my family and playing with my dog Laana.

Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis.): I like to enjoy a good sleep in followed by brunch. After brunch I would enjoy laying out on the beach listening to country music.

BACK IN ACTION
Tomorrow the U.S. women will be back in action with a morning skate and game two of the tournament when it faces the Olympic Athletes of Russia at 9:10 p.m. local time. Fans can catch the action live on NBCSN, or follow @USAHockey on Twitter for live updates.
