Father, Kjell Samuelsson, won a gold medal with Sweden at the 1991 Men's World Championship and a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1992. Kjell was a 1984 6th round draft pick of the New York Rangers and went on to play 14 years in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Tampa Bay Lightning. Kjell is the Director of Player Development with the Philadelphia Flyers.
