On day two of camp, the women took the ice early for practice before setting out on an adventure to NHL Network studios.

GOALIE SESSION
We listened in as goaltending coach Steve Thompson gave U.S. goalies Emma Polusny (Mound, Minn.), Alex Rigsby (Delafield, Wis.) and Maddie Rooney (Andover, Minn.) a preview of what they could expect at this morning’s practice. He explained a drill called “double trouble” that focuses on passing and forechecking.

CAPTAIN AMERICA
It was announced today that Kendall Coyne Schofield (Palos Heights, Ill.), two-time Olympic medalist and 2018 Olympic champion, will serve as captain, and Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.) and Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Idaho) will serve as alternate captains of the 2019 U.S. Women’s National Team. NHL Network broke the news live on its NHL Now program this afternoon.

“It’s such an honor to serve as captain again for Team USA alongside Kacey and Hilary," Coyne Schofield said. "This team is full of amazing leaders and we’re excited to have the opportunity to showcase to the world what we’ve been working toward all season long.”

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
For the first time ever, NHL Network will televise all of Team USA’s games at the IIHF Women’s World Championship live in the U.S. With that in mind, the U.S. Women’s National Team – all 23 players – went to the NHL Network studios in Secaucus, New Jersey, today for a full afternoon of content capture. Players spent time on the demo rink to give fans some unique insight into how they see the game on the ice, participated in some fun segments on the set of NHL Now and had some fun on social media.
