FIRST STRIDES
The U.S. women took their first strides on the ice in Espoo today, using the time to get readjusted to the larger sheet of ice that is used at International Ice Hockey Federation events. Official Olympic and international-sized rinks like the one at Metro Areena are about 13 feet wider than an NHL-sized rink.

WELL WISHES FROM THE U.S. AMBASSADOR
Team USA had a few visitors in the building to watch practice today, including Chargé d’Affaires Donna Welton of the U.S. Embassy in Helsinki. Welton and members of her team had the opportunity to meet Team USA in its locker room after practice to say hello and wish the players the best of luck in the upcoming tournament.
