Day 8: May 1

With the preliminary round complete, all competing teams enter the second off-day of the tournament. For Team USA, the day off will be spent taking a train to and from Prague. 

With the Czech Republic claiming a 5-0 victory over Norway tonight, the semifinal round matchups are now set. The United States will meet the host nation on Friday (May 3) at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET) with the winner advancing to Saturday's (May 4) gold-medal game at 4:30 p.m. local time (10:30 a.m. ET) against the winner of the Canada-Korea semifinal. The respective semifinal losers will play for the bronze medal on Saturday at 1 p.m. local time (7 a.m. ET).  

Birthday wishes are in order for Noah Grove (Frederick, Md.), who turns 20 years old today. The youngest member of Team USA is just one of four players who has a May birthday. Steve Cash (Overland, Mo.) will turn 30 on May 9, Chris Douglas (St. Cloud, Fla.) will celebrate his 29th birthday on May 17 and Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) will be 21 on May 25.
