July 28: Day Three

Due to jersey colors available to Finland and Sweden, both the USA Blue and USA White teams will trade jersey colors for today's game. Thus, at 1 p.m. ET, USA Blue will take the ice in white jerseys while the 4 p.m. ET tilt will see USA White skate in blue jerseys. Jersey numbers are subject to change. The games can be streamed on HockeyTV.

Yesterday's Games

USA Blue 4, Sweden 2: Alex Turcotte scored a goal and added an assist as USA Blue edged Sweden, 4-2. USA Blue opened with a three-goal first period courtesy of Blake McLaughlin, John Beecher and Turcotte. After a scoreless middle stanza, Sweden’s Samuel Fagemo and David Gustafsson each connected to cut USA Blue's lead to one, 3-2. With an empty-net goal, Cole Caufield accounted for the 4-2 final.

USA White 2, Finland 3: Eemil Erholtz connected twice, Sampo Ranta added a goal and Justus Annunen made 36 saves as Finland edged USA White, 3-2. Nick Robertson and Oliver Wahlstrom both scored for USA White, which outshot the Fins by a count of 38-17. You can check out a recap of both games here.

Roster Tidbit

The NHL's New York Islanders have five NHL Draft picks skating in this week's Showcase, all of which are American. All selected at the 2018 NHL Draft in Dallas, Oliver Wahlstrom is the lone first-round selection (11th) followed by Bode Wilde, who was taken in the second round (41st). Jacob Pivonka heard his name called in the fourth round (103rd) before Blade Jenkins was taken in the fifth round (134th). Rounding out the Islanders selections is Christian Krygier, who was drafted in the seventh round (196th).
