Thursday was the first full off day for Team USA. The team did not have any practice or any competition. Instead, what they did was a team building activity. Not knowing what they were doing, they were told to show up to the rink where they then boarded the bus to head out and enjoy the sunshine. Heading a little bit away from Plymouth, the team floated down the river.
Team USA used two goals from Arthur Kaliyev and a shutout from Spencer Knight to win 6-0 over Sweden. John Beecher got the scoring started for the U.S. shortly into the first period. The score remained 1-0 until early on in the second, when. Kaliyev tallied his first of two in the period. Leading 3-0 after two, the U.S. scored three more times. Blake McLaughlin scored on a nice pass from Trevor Janicke before Nick Robertson deked the Swedish goaltender and earned himself a #4 spot on SportsCenter’s Top 10. Trevor Zegras capped off the scoring for the United States. For a full recap, click here.
