Aug. 5: Day One

The players arrived at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York on Monday night to get settled for the 2019 Women's National Festival. After checking in and dropping their equipment at the rink, players posed for their official headshots and followed that up with their initial round of off-ice testing. Players and staff then met for team meetings, starting with the U-18 players then followed by the O-18 group.

Players were greeted by Katie Million, director of women’s national teams for USA Hockey, and then given a brief overview of the week. In her presentation, Million used the words relentless, humble and hungry to define the attitude of the festival. In both the U-18 and O-18 groups, players stood up and introduced themselves, told everyone where they're from, who they play for and a fun fact about themselves. The Women's National Festival followed suit and many of the answers led to a room full of laughter. Players were then dismissed to prepare for their first full day of camp.
