TESTING, TESTING
Today, in addition to practice, the players participated in both on-ice and off-ice drills as part of the strength and conditioning segment of camp. Following the session, players had some down time, taking the opportunity to explore downtown Hartford, get some homework done and catch up on some well-earned rest before heading back to the rink for night sessions. Today marks the last day of practices before the squads continue with two days of scrimmaging and off-ice workouts.

Several of the camp’s 46 skaters traveled across the country to participate in this week’s camp, but Melissa Samoskevich is not one of them. A recent graduate of Quinnipiac University and member of the U.S. Women’s National Team that won gold at the 2019 Women’s World Championship, the Sandy Hook, Conn., native grew up a mere 45 minutes away from Hartford. Following practice, she sat down with local media to discuss her love of hockey and what it’s like to be playing so close to home.
