DAY TWO: Day two of training camp has come and gone here in Pezinok, Slovakia, and most players and staff are adjusted to the time change. After a delicious breakfast, the coaches led a team meeting and video session before hopping on the ice for a late afternoon skate.
TEAM BUILDING: After dinner, strength and conditioning coach Bill DeLongis put the team through a fun team-building activity designed to foster teamwork, collaboration and communication. In teams of three, one player was blindfolded and had to take direction from the other two players (one of which had their back turned) to avoid touching a series of "landmines" – foam rollers, tennis shoes, etc. – scattered throughout the room by coaching staff.
WHERE THEY'RE FROM: The Under-18 Women's National Team roster contains players from all different parts of the United States. This year's roster includes 12 forwards, eight defenders and three goaltenders that represent eight different states.
NOTES: The IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship will be played for the 13th time in 2020 and includes teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States . . . The U.S. has played in the gold-medal game in each of the first 12 years of the event and earned seven gold medals (2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), more than any other nation.
