The U.S. defeated Finland, 4-1, in the 2020 IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship opener on Thursday. Rory Guilday (Chanhassen, Minn.), Abbey Murphy (Evergreen Park, Ill.), Clara Van Wieren (Okemos, Mich.), Audrey Wethington (Edina, Minn.) all scored for Team USA and Skylar Vetter (Lakeville, Minn.) notched nine saves in the victory. Team USA outshot the Finnish, 51-10, and was 1-for-4 on the power play.
