Father, Craig, played three seasons (1990-93) at the University of Minnesota (WCHA) where he won a WCHA Championship in 1993 prior to a 10-year NHL career. Craig played on Team USA for the 1994 Olympic Games recording four points (0-4–4) in eight games, in addition to four Men's World Championship teams (2003, 1999, 1996-bronze and 1993). Craig served as an alternate captain on the 2003 Men's World Championship team.
