First 17 Players Named To 2019 U.S. Men's National Team

Roster Includes 11 First-Round NHL Draft Picks

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced today the first 17 players named to the U.S. Men's National Team that will compete in the 2019 International Ice Hockey Federation Men's World Championship, May 10-26, in Kosice and Bratislava, Slovakia.

The roster features 11 first-round NHL Draft picks, including Patrick KaneRyan SuterJack EichelJames van Riemsdyk, Cory SchneiderDylan LarkinClayton KellerChris KreiderBrady SkjeiQuinn Hughes and Colin White.

2019 U.S. Roster

"We're excited about our team and it's fun to hear the passion our players have when I've talked to them about representing our country," said Chris Drury, general manager of the 2019 U.S. Men's National Team and also the assistant general manager of the NHL's New York Rangers. "We have one objective and that is to come home with the gold medal."

Team USA will depart the U.S. for Mannheim, Germany, on May 4 where it will spend three days training, including a pre-tournament game against Germany on May 7. The U.S. begins play in the 2019 IIHF Men's World Championship on May 10 against host Slovakia. All U.S. games in the tournament will air live on NHL Network.

The U.S. has medaled in three of the last six IIHF Men's World Championships (bronze in 2013, 2015, 2018), its best medal stretch since the 1950s. 

USA Hockey will announce additions to its roster as players are confirmed. The IIHF allows each federation to have up to 25 players (22 skaters, 3 goaltenders).

  • 7 players return from last year's bronze medal-winning U.S. Men's National Team including Alex DeBrincatQuinn HughesPatrick KaneChris KreiderDylan LarkinAlec Martinez and Colin White. A total of 13 players have previously played in the IIHF Men's World Championship
     
  • The 17 players come from nine different states with Massachusetts (5), Michigan (4) and New Jersey (2) leading the way
     
  • A total of 15 players have competed in college hockey in the U.S., led by four players from Boston College, three from the University of Michigan and two from Boston University
