Gameday: U.S. Men Face Germany Ahead of Men's Worlds

Pre-Tournament Game Puck Drop Set For 1 p.m. ET at SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany

MANNHEIM, Germany -- The U.S. and Germany meet here tonight in the lone pre-tournament game for Team USA as it prepares for the 83rd annual IIHF Men’s World Championship that commences Friday (May 10) in Slovakia.

Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. local (1 p.m. ET) at SAP Arena and fans can watch a live stream of the event by clicking here. Live stats can be found here.

Patrick Kane, who is making his eighth appearance in a U.S. uniform, is Team USA’s captain in the world championship for the second straight year, while Ryan Suter and Dylan Larkin are the squad’s alternate captains. Suter has played in 12 previous events for Team USA, while Larkin, who is playing in the men’s world championship for the fifth straight year, has worn a Team USA uniform in seven previous international events.

All total, 16 players have competed previously for the U.S. in the IIHF Men’s World Championship. Team USA has won a bronze medal in three of the last six world championships, the best medal stretch for a U.S. team since the early 1950s.

The U.S. arrived in Mannheim on Sunday and has had two practices together in front of tonight’s game.
