Puck drop in Kosice set for 10:15 a.m. ET on NHL Network

KOSICE, Slovakia – The average price of a gallon of gasoline in the U.S. was 31 cents the last time the U.S. and Great Britain faced off in the IIHF Men’s World Championship. That was 1962, and the two teams will battle today for just the fifth time ever with the U.S. owning a 2-0-2 series advantage.

Puck drop is set for 4:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) and the game will be televised live in the U.S. on NHL Network. The contest is the fourth of seven preliminary round games for both teams in the world championship.

Patrick Kane starts today tied with Mark Johnson as the all-time U.S. leader in career points in the men’s world championship with 33. It’s not just Kane in contention for the all-time mark, however, as Dylan Larkin has 32 career points and Johnny Gaudreau 31. For those fans not familiar with Mark Johnson, he was the leading point getter on the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” U.S. Olympic Team that captured gold in Lake Placid, N.Y. He went on to play 669 games in the NHL and is currently the head women’s ice hockey coach at the University of Wisconsin and the all-time winningest coach in NCAA women’s ice hockey history.

USA Hockey announced the addition of defenseman Zach Werenski to the 2019 U.S. Men’s National Team roster on Monday and he is expected to join the team in time for its final preliminary round game against Canada.
