USA Hockey National Player Development Camps Begin Tomorrow

Nation's best boys, girls and sled hockey players to train and compete in Amherst, New York, and St. Cloud, Minnesota

The 42nd annual USA Hockey National Player Development Camps begin Tuesday with the Girls 16/17 Camp opening in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and the Boys Select 17 Camp starting in Amherst, New York.

Subsequent camps in St. Cloud include the Girls 15 Camp (July 12-17) and Girls Under-18 Select Camp (15-21) while Amherst will host the Boys Select 16 Camp (July 7-13), Sled Camp (July 7-12) and Boys Select 15 Camp (July 15-20). Auston Matthews was a past participant in USA Hockey's Player Development Camps.

In all, nearly 1,100 of the United States' best 15-, 16- and 17-year-old boys and girls will participate at the camps, joining a list of alumni that includes NHL Stanley Cup champions, Olympic and Paralympic gold medalists as well as world champions. Notable former participants include Kendall Coyne SchofieldDeclan FarmerPatrick KaneHilary KnightAuston MatthewsJosh Pauls and Maddie Rooney.

Players are selected to participate as a result of their performance in a series of tryouts conducted at USA Hockey’s district and affiliate levels nationwide. USA Hockey’s National Player Development Camps consist of age-appropriate practices, games and off-ice training all geared toward strengthening young American hockey players.

NOTES: The roster for the U.S. Under-18 Men's Select Team that will compete in the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup will be determined following the Boys Select 17 Camp while the roster for the U.S. Under-17 Men's Select Team that will play in the 2019 Under-17 Five Nations Cup will be chosen after the Boys Select 16 Camp ... The Girls 16/17 Camp is used to determine which players will advance to fill the remaining roster spots for the Girls U18 Select Camp, which is used to select the players advancing to the USA Hockey Women's National Festival in Lake Placid in August ... Following the Sled Camp, USA Hockey will host tryouts on July 13-14 for the 2019-20 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team and U.S. Men's Development Sled Hockey Team. Tryouts for the U.S. Women's Development Sled Hockey Team will take place July 18-20 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.
