Schimek's Nine Points Lead All Skaters Into Day 4 of Boys 16 PDC

Game action resumes at 11 a.m. ET here at Northtown Center in Amherst, N.Y.

The 2019 Boys Select 16 Player Development Camp rolls on here with Day 4 here at Northtown Center in Amherst, N.Y. Camp play resumes at 11 a.m. ET when Team White takes on Team Navy. All of today's action will take place on the Olympic sheet after skating the last three days on the Feature rink.

LEADING THE WAY
Leading all skaters through three games of play is Ben Schimek (Team Navy), who has a camp-best nine points (4-5). Schimek shares the camp goal-scoring lead with Jack Silich (Team Forest) and Cam Bergeman (Team Royal) at four apiece. Thanks for a five-assist effort yesterday, Oliver Flynn (Team White) paces all camp skaters with six goals in three games while Will Fox (Team Navy) has stood tall in goal, registering an impressive 1.20 goals against average and .944 save percentage through three games.

PDC ALUMNI IN THE STANLEY CUP FINALS
The 2018-19 Stanley Cup Final featured a total of 16 alumni from USA Hockey Player Development Camps, all from the Boston Bruins.Noel Acciari, David Backes, Paul Carey, Brandon Carlo, Connor Clifton, Charlie Coyle, Matt Grzelcyk, Steven Kampfer, Kyle Keyser, Karson Kuhlman, Torey Krug, Sean Kuraly, John Moore and Charlie McAvoy competed for the Stanley Cup in June, falling in seven games to the St. Louis Blues.

GOALIE NATION
With game's not starting until 11am ET, the goalies here at camp attended a presentation led by Steve Thompson, USA Hockey's new American Development Model manager of goaltending. In total, 20 of the best Under-17 goaltenders across the country are here at camp. 
     Thompson made his international coaching debut this past season as a member of the U.S. Women's National Team staff that helped lead Team USA to the gold medal at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship and also to the 2018 Four Nations Cup championship. A goaltending coach and evaluator at USA Hockey district and select camps since 2014, Thompson has also spent the last three seasons representing USA Hockey's Pacific District as its associate coach-in-chief of goaltending.

Yesterday's Scores

Kelly 3, White 2 (SO) - Three days of competition, three days of at least one shootout. This time, Team Kelly prevailed despite Ryan Humphrey tallying both goals for Team White.

Navy 4, Columbia 5 - Niklas Miller's goal in the second-half of the game proved to be the eventual game-winner, as Matthew Argentina led all skaters with three points (2G, 1A).

Forest 5, Red 7 - Behind a five-point assist outing from Timmy Delay, Team Red gave Team Forest everything it could handle, but came up short. Tyler Haskins ended the game with a three-point effort (2G, 1A) to lead Team Forest.

Black 5, Grey 3 - A combined 10 players registered a point for Team Black as its hard-fought win pushes Team Black (2-0-0-1/W-L-OTW-OTL) into a tie with Team Royal (1-0-2-0/W-L-OTW-OTL) for first in the American Division with seven points.

Royal 7, Gold 4 - Max Strand put forth a three-assist night to help Team Royal edge Team Gold. The score was 5-4 with less than a minute to play before back-to-back empty net goals sealed Team Royal's win.
