The Girls 15 Player Development Camp is officially underway here in St. Cloud, Minn. Staff members from across the country, including camp directors, team coaches, skill coaches, team leaders, strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers and camp interns, arrived on the campus of St. Cloud State University yesterday (July 11) afternoon. Upon arrival, the staff participated in a handful of introductory meetings and ice breakers to get to know one another and finalized camp plans before welcoming the players today.
Player Arrival & Fitness Testing
The 216 camp players arrived in St. Cloud beginning around 12 p.m. central time today. Players checked in and dropped off their luggage at the student-athlete housing before being asked to complete through both on- and off-ice fitness testing with members of the staff.
Lead athletic trainer Sheri Walters (USWNT) and athletic trainer Annika Farber (Shattuck-St. Mary’s) directed the girls through a series of tests with the purpose of measuring each player’s technique and quality of movement. This analysis is designed to see how the girls perform each strength test and identify what techniques could be improved upon in order to prevent injury down the road.
Say Cheese!
The Girls 15 Camp staff huddled up for pictures before the players arrived this morning. USA Hockey personnel posed for a full-staff photo of over 75 people before breaking down into smaller groups of coaches, trainers and directors.
