AGAINST CANADA
The national teams from the United States and Canada most recently squared off at the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship, when the U.S. defeated Canada, 3-2, in a preliminary round contest. The United States went on to claim its fifth consecutive gold medal the Women's Worlds, dating back to 2013. The two superpowers in women's hockey, the United States and Canada have battled in the gold-medal game of every IIHF Women’s World Championship and Olympic Winter Games staged, with just two exceptions (2019 World Championship, 2006 Olympics).
PREPARING FOR RIVALRY SERIES
This week’s exhibitions will serve as a preview for the five-game Rivalry Series between the U.S. and Canada, which begins next month and lasts through February. The series opens Dec. 14 with a 7. p.m. ET contest at XL Center in Hartford, Conn., and will feature three games in Canada before the series finale in Anaheim, Calif., on Feb. 8. Tickets for the Hartford game can be purchased here. The Rivalry Series was introduced by USA Hockey and Hockey Canada last season and comprised three games between the women’s national teams of the two countries.
