“It's always extremely competitive when we play Canada,” said David Hoff, head coach of the 2019-20 U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. “We're excited to get everyone back together and have a good, solid week of hard work. I was pleased with how we tackled Canada back in December and hopefully we can keep that mentality heading into Thursday's game."
The U.S. will conduct practices beginning Tuesday, Feb. 11, prior to its meetings against Canada. The Series marks the second international competition of the season for Team USA. In its last 10 Series-specific games, the U.S. holds a record of 7-0-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L). All-time, the U.S. trails Canada, 13-4-5-26 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in 46 series-specific meetings.
The U.S. National Sled Team is a perfect 5-0-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) this season after capturing an unprecedented sixth-straight Para Hockey Cup title in Paradise, Newfoundland last December. Team USA defeated Canada on two occasions at the 2019 Para Hockey Cup, inclduing a 2-1 victory in the championship game. Brody Roybal (Northlake, Ill.) led the tournament with 10 points (3-7) while Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) led the way with six goals, including his 100th Team USA career goal against Russia in the opening game of the tournament.
The U.S. National Sled Team returns to action Thursday, Feb. 13 when it takes on Canada in Game 1 of the two-game series.
