U.S. looks for first win of prelim play

FRISCO, Texas - After falling in a heartbreaking overtime loss to Russia last night, Team USA wastes no time getting back on the ice as they host Germany tonight at Comerica Center. Puck drop is set for 8:00 pm CT / 9:00 pm ET and the game is streamed live on HockeyTV.com

The U.S. saw plenty of offensive firepower yesterday, finding the back of the net six times. Dylan Duke (Strongsville, Ohio) led the way with a pair of goals while Sean Behrens (Barrington, Ill.), Lane Hutson (Barrington, Ill.) and Sasha Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) all chipped in with three points apiece.

In Group B play, Team USA sits in third place after a single game of action with one point and a 0-0-1-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) record, one point ahead of Germany.

Germany opened up its tournament with a game against the Czech Republic, where they dropped the contest by a 3-1 final. The Germans struggled in the shot department, getting more than doubled up by the Czechs by a 40-19 total margin. Team USA will look to perform similarly, and keep its prowess on the power play, where it went 3-for-4 last night against Russia, to get its first W of the preliminary stage.

Today’s Opponent: Germany

The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team has a 6-0-0-2-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) all-time record against Germany in the IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. In preliminary round play only, the U.S. has a clean sweep of all four contests played between the two teams. Most recently, Team USA posted a 13-1 win over the Germans back in 2015.
