Third preliminary round game starts at 9 pm ET / 8 pm CT

FRISCO, Texas - Team USA got its first day off of the tournament yesterday, but returns to the ice to take on the Czech Republic tonight at Comerica Center. Puck drop is slated for 8:00 pm CT / 9:00 pm ET and the game is streamed live on HockeyTV.com

The U.S. comes into the contest off a 5-3 win over Germany Tuesday (April 27) evening, fueled by a pair of power-play tallies from Ty Gallagher (Clarkston, Mich.). He is one of two defenseman to record a pair of scores through two games in the Under-18 Championship.

After every team in Group B has played a pair of games, Team USA sits in second place with four points and a 1-0-1-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record, one point behind Finland for top billing. After tonight's matchup, the U.S. will round out prelims Saturday night against Finland.

The Czech Republic has had a good start to the 2021 tournament, topping Germany in its first game played before losing a tight battle to Finland last night, 6-5. The Czechs held a 5-3 lead in the third period before giving up a late trio to Finland, including the game-winning goal with 19 seconds to play in regulation.

Today’s Opponent: Czech Republic

The U.S. Under-18 Men's National Team has had massive success in this tournament against the Czechs, skating to a 13-1-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in 16 career games. The U.S. lost its first two matchups before winning 14 straight heading into tonight. Team USA has a clean slate in six preliminary round matchups, outscoring the Czechs, 26-8, in those games. In the most recent battle, the U.S. earned a 4-1 win in the 2018 tournament semifinals.
