NHL Network Set to Broadcast, Puck Drops at 2 p.m. ET

EDMONTON, Canada – The United States takes on Finland in its first, and only pre-tournament game. This will be the first opportunity for anyone, including coaches, to see the Americans play against international competition. Puck drops at noon local time, and 2:00 p.m. ET at Rogers Place in Edmonton. NHL Network will broadcast the game live.

Team USA and Finland enter the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship following the U.S. defeating Finland in last year’s semifinal matchup, 4-3.

Today’s matchup is less about renewing a rivalry and more about giving players the opportunity to play as a team before tournament action begins. All 25 players have the opportunity to dress. Keep an eye on Team USA’s six returning players from last season’s roster, including the leadership group of Jake Sanderson, Matty Beniers, Brock Faber and Landon Slaggert. Faber and forward Brett Berard return as the top scorers from last year’s team, scoring five points apiece in the 2021 tournament.

Today’s Opponent: Finland

The U.S. National Junior Team has a 14-3-0-18-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L-T) series record against Finland in the IIHF World Junior Championship. However, the U.S. holds a 5-2-0-3 (W-OTW-OTL-L) advantage in its previous 10 matchups, including three of the last five.
