MADISON, Wis. – Team USA will face Sweden with a trip to the gold medal game on the line on Sunday. Puck drop is at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on NHL Network. 

TODAY'S MATCHUP

After earning a quarterfinal-round bye, the U.S. takes the ice for its semifinal game against Sweden at LaBahn Arena. The tilt marks the second meeting of the tournament for the two teams. They last faced each other on June 6 for a preliminary-round bout. Team USA won, 6-1. 

LAST TIME OUT

Behind a 25-save shutout from goaltender Annelies Bergmann, Team USA topped Canada, 7-0 to close out the final preliminary round game of the IIHF Under-18 Women's World Championship. Madison Kaiser led the team with a goal and two assists in the victory, while the U.S. outshot its opponent 34-25. The win marks the largest margin of victory between the two teams in the history of the tournament and the first time ever Team USA has shutout Canada in a U18 WWC meeting.

A STINGY DEFENSE

Team USA has yielded one goal for the entirety of the tournament. It is the fewest goals allowed of any team. The U.S. has also pitched back-to-back shutouts. It marks the first time since the first two preliminary-round games of the 2016 Under-18 Women's World Championship that Team USA has shut out its opponents. 

FIRST PERIOD FRENZY

Team USA has outscored its opponents 9-0 in the first period of its first three preliminary-round games. Nine of the team's 18 goals have been tallied in the first. 

ON THE SCORESHEET

Three of the top five-point scorers of the tournament are from Team USA. Laila Edwards leads the event with seven points (3G, 4A). Sydney Morrow boasts seven assists for third and Tessa Janecke has six points (3G, 3A) for fourth-most in the tournament. 

IN NET...

Against Canada, Annelies Bergmann posted a 25-save shutout. It marked the U.S.'s first shutout of Canada in U18 Women's World Championship play. Bergmann leads the tournament with a .978 save percentage and 0.50 GAA in two appearances. 

IN THE SEMIFINAL ROUND

Team USA boasts a 13-0 all-time record in the semifinal round of the U18 WWC. The U.S. has faced Sweden twice in the semifinal round, winning both meetings.
