The game schedule for the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship, which is set for August 9-20 in Edmonton, Alberta, was announced today.
Team USA will compete in Group B alongside Austria, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland. All tournament games will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton, which marks the first time since 1988 that all World Juniors games will be held at one venue with fans in attendance.
The U.S. National Junior Team opens play on August 9 with a matchup against Germany at 10 p.m. ET (8 p.m. local). After an off day, Team USA will face Switzerland in another 10 p.m. ET game on August 11. Following another off day, the U.S. will play back-to-back, with a 2 p.m. ET (12 p.m. local) showdown with Austria on August 13 followed by a 10 p.m. ET matchup with Sweden to close out the preliminary round.
The quarterfinals, which will include the top four teams from each group after the preliminary round, are set for Wednesday, August 17. The winners of those games will advance to the semifinals on Friday, August 19.
The medal round is set for Saturday, August 20, with the bronze medal game scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (2 p.m. local) followed by the gold medal game at 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. local).
Broadcast information for the tournament will be announced at a later date.
