GAMEDAY: USA Takes on Canada in 2022 Para Hockey Cup Championship

U.S. looking to capture seventh consecutive Para Hockey Cup title; puck drops at 3 p.m. ET

BRIDGEWATER, Nova Scotia – The U.S. National Sled Hockey Team will play Canada in the 2022 Para Hockey Cup championship game on Saturday, Dec. 3. Opening faceoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast live on TSN.

The U.S. defeated Italy, 11-0,  on Friday (Dec. 1) in the semifinals to advance to the title game with an undefeated 3-1-0-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) record. Evan Nichols (Haymarket, Va.) scored three times and was named Team USA’s Player of the Game, while Brett Bolton (Rockledge, Fla.) tallied his first two career goals.

The U.S. is looking to capture its seventh consecutive Para Hockey Cup title, and ninth PHC championship overall. Team USA is making its 10th straight appearance in the Para Hockey Cup finals.

Team USA is 10-4-1-9 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time against Canada in the Para Hockey Cup. The U.S. defeated Canada, 3-2, in overtime in preliminary round play on Wednesday (Nov. 30), where Declan Farmer (Tampa, Fla.) scored the game-winning goal and Josh Misiewicz (La Grange, Ill.) was named U.S. Player of the Game. Canada enters this game with a 3-0-1-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) tournament record. The U.S. has recorded 11 consecutive wins over Canada in the Para Hockey Cup, dating back to the 2016 championship game. The U.S. and Canada are meeting in the PHC finals for the sixth straight time and 10th time overall.
